Red Planet/Native Realities, the World’s Only Native American Comic Shop, Launches Kickstarter Campaign Supporting A Howl: An Indigenous Comic Collection of Wolves, Werewolves, and Rougarou
Albuquerque, New Mexico – May 3rd – Native Realities Press, the most prolific US publisher of Native and Indigenous comics and graphic novels, is launching a new Kickstarter to bring A Howl: An Indigenous Comic Collection of Wolves, Werewolves, and Rougarou to the market this winter. After more than three years in development with Lee Francis, publisher with Native Realities, editor Elizabeth LaPensée’s brainchild, A Howl, continues to add more Indigenous voices to the comic book and graphic novel world.
The initial list of contributors features emerging and established illustrators, writers, and graphic artists, including: Best-selling cover artist and illustrator, Dale Deforest, Marvel cover artist, Maria Wolf, award winning writer and illustrator, Jay Odjick, and NY Times Bestseller, Stephen Graham Jones.
“The response for writers and artists was surprisingly overwhelming,” says LaPensée. “It turns out Native creatives have been looking for a place to tell their dream werewolf stories!”
The campaign launches on May 4th, 2021 on the Kickstarter platform and will be completed by late 2021. The following link can be used to find the anthology: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/a-howl/a-howl.
“Kickstarter is the perfect platform for this work as it already has such an incredible following and helps us to get the word out to everyone,” says Francis.
Francis was adamant in his assessment of the anthology's chances, “I know this will be funded and then some! Everyone loves werewolves and it’s time for some fresh stories to take the stage!”
